Biocyc curate and maintain several databases:

BioCyc is a collection of 371 Pathway/Genome Databases. Each Pathway/Genome Database in the BioCyc collection describes the genome and metabolic pathways of a single organism, with the exception of the MetaCyc database, which is a reference source on metabolic pathways from many organisms.

These include href="">Ecocyc, href="">Metacyc and the href="">BioCyc Open Chemical Database - which have all had "at least one year of literature-based curation by scientists". The rest are linked to on the href="">List of BioCyc Pathway/Genome Databases.

The Terms and Conditions state:

The above BIOCYC DATABASES are owned by SRI and its Licensors. You may use, modify and redistribute the BIOCYC DATABASES on a royalty-free basis, worldwide and for any purpose; provided, in each case, that any modified copies of the BIOCYC DATABASES, or websites from which such modified copies may be obtained, must clearly and prominently (i) identify the BIOCYC DATABASES from which they were derived, (ii) include all applicable copyright notices and author lists from the BIOCYC DATABASES from which they were derived, and (iii) identify or summarize all modifications that were made. Any distribution of such BIOCYC DATABASE without such notices is a violation of SRI's and its Licensors' copyright and other proprietary rights. All trademarks, service marks and trade names are proprietary to SRI International and its Licensors.

The BIOCYC DATABASES, including any files incorporated in or generated from the BIOCYC DATABASES and data accompanying the BIOCYC DATABASES, are licensed to you by SRI and its Licensors. SRI and its Licensors do not transfer title or any other rights in the BIOCYC DATABASES to you. SRI and its Licensors retain full and complete title to the BIOCYC DATABASES, and all intellectual property rights therein. You may not use the BIOCYC DATABASES except as otherwise specified herein.

Furthermore, they Terms and Conditions mention export control regulations which may contractually restrict re-use by certain residents/nationals:

The BIOCYC DATABASES are further subject to United States export controls. The BIOCYC DATABASES may not be installed, downloaded or otherwise exported or reexported (i) into (or to a national or resident of) any country as to which the U.S. has embargoed goods; or (ii) to anyone on the U.S. Treasury Department's list of Specialty Designated Nationals or the U.S. Commerce Department's Table of Deny Orders. By installing, downloading or using the BIOCYC DATABASES, you represent and warrant that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of any such country on any such list.
